Borderline or Emotionally Unstable
Personality Disorder
Have you, or somebody you know, been diagnosed with BPD or EUPD?
Or do you suspect you might fit the criteria?

Ok, let's talk about what you need to know.
What is it??
Borderline PD is a mental health diagnosis categorised by difficulty in regulating emotions, fear of rejection/abandonment, chronic feelings of emptiness, and generally feeling both too much for people and not good enough all at the same time.

It can cause people to experience suicidical thinking, lead to addiction struggles, self-harming, difficulties in maintaining relationships, anxiety, depression, anger...

I've heard people describe it as living without a layer of skin, everything is rubbing directly on raw nerve endings.

What causes it?
Short answer... trauma.
Long-term, cumulative trauma throughout childhood and adolescence.

Long answer, it's complicated. It's a mix of a child's natural predisposition combined with adverse childhood events.

The important take away from this though, is that having BPD isn't a personality flaw. It was a survival strategy.

For reasons, your childhood did not feel safe (physically and/or emotionally) and your mind learnt strategies to survive that. The problem now, is that those strategies might be getting in the way of you truly living.
