Fern Mayo
Online Therapy

Are you looking for a safe, confidential space to start unpacking your story and experiences?

About

Hi, I worked as a therapist for almost 10 years within the NHS, specialising in helping people understand their experiences and move through complex trauma.

I initially trained as an Art Psychotherapist and have continued to learn and expand my knowledge in areas such as Analytic Groupwork, trauma-informed interventions and attachment based treatment.

My aim to is to work alongside my clients to gain a greater understanding and knowledge of what they experienced and the impact this has had on them, those around them and their lives in general. Together, we can begin to start figuring out what it is you want for your future and how to get there.

Is therapy right for me?

Some things to think about

01

What's going on right now?

Timing in therapy is key.

Do you feel you have the space and mental capacity to devote to yourself right now?

Have you reached a point where you feel ready to start making changes or start thinking about what you would like to be different in your life?

If yes, then maybe now might be the time to start exploring your therapy options.

02

What kind of support am I looking for?

Therapy is usually most effective when attended consistently and can provide a safe, confidential and supportive space. However, it is not a 24hour contact line or Crisis support line.

If you need immediate and wrap around mental health care, please contact your GP or, in an emergency, go to your nearest A&E. They will be able to help you stay safe and find you the support you need.

03

Has something changed or is there something you want to change?

Sometimes it can be difficult to know how to manage big changes in our lives, whatever they might be, and it can be overwhelming to face this on your own.

Equally, it might be time for a change and you've been feeling stuck, unable to stop repeating toxic cycles or patterns. Therapy might be able to help.

04

Who is it for?

Therapy works best when we are doing it for ourselves, not because somebody else is telling us we should.

Regardless of your reasons for seeking out therapy, it should be your decision to embark on this journey.

Why choose online?

There can be many advantages to choosing online therapy but it is important to consider if this is the right choice for you. Here are some important things to think about when deciding on what kind of therapy would be most useful for you:

  • Convenience and flexibility: online therapy means that you can , access your therapy from anywhere with an internet connection. You don't have to worry about travel times, parking or waiting rooms. If you work away from home, this means you won't have to miss your therapy and won't have to negotiate too much extra time away with your employer. â€‹However, this also means that extra consideration needs to be taken in giving yourself the space and recovery time required after a difficult therapy session. You may not want to discuss some subjects in your home and safe space - this will be an important conversation to have when you first start your therapy journey and we can think together how to create that distance and separation at the end of a session.

  • More choice: therapy is built on trust and a secure therapeutic relationship. Choosing online therapy gives you access to more clinicians and a better chance to find the right fit for you. If you would like to chat about whether that might be here or to get a better idea of what you want from a therapist I'm happy to have that discussion with you so that you can feel like you're in safe hands. Book an initial consultation meeting and we can see if we can understand what it is that might be the most helpful path for you.

  • Physical limitations? Don't let your health get in the way of accessing the support you need. Online therapy means that anyone with physical limitations, whether this is due to disability, chronic illness or even a broken leg you can still access your therapy without worrying about navigating inaccessible places or forcing yourself to endure unnecessary pain when your body requires rest.

“Though no one can go back and make a brand new start,
anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”
